POWER COORDINATION/

SHORT CIRCUIT STUDY SERVICES

Over time, a facility’s electrical needs or equipment often change considerably.  Aging electrical systems can quickly become unreliable and unable to meet new system demands.  It is critical to perform a power coordination study to keep electrical systems current.

When it becomes important for safe, efficient, economical operation of any electrical power distribution system, our power coordination and short circuit studies; ensure that personnel and equipment are protected, maximize system uptime, ensure a reliable power system, comply with NEC and NFPA coordination mandates, and balance the effects of mitigation with system reliability.

Our Power Coordination / Short Circuit Study expertise includes:

  • Short-Circuit Analysis with Protective Device Evaluations

  • Protective Device Coordination Study

  • Load-Flow / Voltage Drop Study

  • Motor Starting Study

  • Short-Circuit Single-Line Power Diagrams

  • Power Quality Analysis

  • Capacity and Demand Analysis

  • Harmonics Analysis

  • Quality Assurance

ARC FLASH SERVICES

“Over 5000 Arc Flash incidents are reported each year.  How many incidents are not reported as workers are embarrassed or fear they might lose their job?”

                                                 OSHA

We provide Arc Flash labels using models of electrical power equipment data directly from our client sites with sizes and settings of each protection equipment considered.  This insures the calculated Arc Flash levels are accurate for each situation.  Furthermore, WAVE Engineers has provided hundreds of Arc Flash studies and applied solutions for our customer's facilities based on IEEE-1584 and NFPA 70E compliance and guidelines.

In 2015, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) provided a final rule that require companies that own and/or operate their own power system equipment to perform Arc Flash calculations and apply labels for their equipment.  Moreover, it requires companies to provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and training regarding Arc Flash safety.

  Our Arc Flash expertise includes:

  • Data Collection

  • Engineering and Load Flow Analysis

  • Selective Coordination Studies

  • Arc Flash Mitigation

  • Arc Flash Calculations

  • Equipment / Device Labeling

  • Bypass and Shutdown

  • Training
